Newsworthy Values - Impact on People

Two car bombs outside the American Embassy in Sana, Yemen killed sixteen people Wednesday (September 17th) morning. Six of the deaths were the Yemeni guards who guarded the entrance and the others were all civilians waiting to be let in. No Americans or embassy officials were killed or harmed. Gunmen dressed in camouflage began firing rifles at 9:15 a.m, the guards began firing back as the suicide bombers drove through the concrete barriers near the front gate. A Yemeni group called the Islamic Jihad were responsible for the bombings. Barack Obama released a statement on this incident. "We must do more to strengthen the military, police, and intelligence capability in nations like Yemen that are on the front lines in the fight against terrorism.” - I think that this article rates a four out of five for Impact on People in the Newsworthy Values because it has a big impact on the people living in Yemen, and also the U.S because the incident happened right in front of the American Embassy.
